Consultant Vascular Surgeon
Professor Domenico Valenti is a leading consultant vascular surgeon, based in London. Specialising in carotid surgery, aortic aneurysm, lower limb reconstructive surgery and varicose vein surgery, he works in the NHS from King's College Hospital, and privately at Cromwell Hospital, KIng Edward VII and London Bridge Hospital. Alongside his clinical practice, Prof Valenti is also involved in teaching and research at King's College London, and is an examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Professor Valenti has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in medical journals and invited speaker at international conferences. He is a former member of the council of the section of surgery at the Royal Society of Medicine.
Areas of Expertise
Professor Domenico Valenti studied Medicine in Italy and qualified in 1991. Professor Valenti completed his surgical training in Italy, Ireland and the UK (St Mary’s Hospital London and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh).
In 1999 he was appointed Junior Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Mauriziano Hospital in Turin, Italy, He was appointed Consultant Vascular Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College Hospital in 2007.
He has extensive experience in all types of vascular surgery, specialising in carotid surgery, aortic aneurysm repair (open and endovascular), lower limb reconstructive surgery, varicose vein surgery (open and radiofrequency ablation VNUS) and vascular access for haemodialysis.
He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh and of the European Board of Vascular Surgery, and he is a member of the council of the section of surgery of the Royal Society of Medicine. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and regularly teaches at King’s, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical Schools. In 2010 he was nominated President of the Vascular Access Society of Britain and Ireland and he is a member of many vascular surgical societies in the UK and Europe.
He is author and co-author of numerous peer reviewed scientific articles that have been published both nationally and internationally.

"I rarely feel compelled to write reviews. But after my recent varicose vein surgery under the auspices of Mr Domenico Valenti, Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Bupa Cromwell, I feel it would be a disservice to let my experience go unnoticed.
Firstly, the before and after. My left leg: previously riddled with lumpy and painful varicose veins is now – only a week post-op – perfectly smooth and entirely pain-free. Mr Valenti is the master of his art.
And, secondly, the in-between. Bedside manner. It’s safe to say that consultants are prone to bad press on this front. However, I found Mr Valenti’s genuine care to be evident from pre to post op. And also, perhaps where it mattered most, on the day of the op. He sat close beside me on the hospital bed and, looking directly at me, explained everything and answered my questions. In other words, body language that spoke of care and assurance".
